Tostada
‘Tostada’ is the Spanish word for toasted. In mexico and other parts of Central America a Tostada refers to a toasted corn tortilla with various toppings similar to those found in a taco.
Classically the Tostada was created as a way to save old or stale tortillas by frying or toasting them avoiding wastage. In modern cooking a Tostada is a popular canapé as they are delicious, versatile and easy to eat.
