Hemp

Once upon a time, commonly associated with the use of cannabis, Hemp seeds are now a revelation in the superfoods world offering high levels of sustainable protein amongst a variety of other dietary benefits.

Hemp seeds have fantastic ratios of omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids which helps against inflammation, while assisting with bone and muscle strength. Hemp is also packed with protein and plenty of fibre, so anyone with a workout program needs to get on the hemp train to help boost their game.

Sumac

Sumac has a citrus tang and is delicious to cut the flavours of rice, lentil and couscous dishes.

‘At Your Tables’ top tip for Sumac is season your poached eggs and Avocado on toast with it…. You are welcome in advance.

Tiger Nuts… Not technically a nut.

Tiger nuts are actually a tuber with a coconut vibe in the flavour department and great levels of fibre. Tiger nuts are great for digestion and have similar healthy fats to other mentioned superfoods Avocado and Olive oils.

Simply eat as is, or sprinkle through granolas, baking recipes and blend into smoothies for a nutty protein boost.

So, Sardines… Part of the superfoods to try in 2019 or simply something I made myself for brunch this morning…?;)

Ok, so I did make myself some sardines for brunch this morning and wow, how good are sardines. They are a trend at our place right now. Grilled with fresh tomato, chilli, some basil and laid on thick toasted sourdough with heaps of olive oil and some lemon juice. Happy tummy.

Full of essential oils and omega fats which are fantastic as an anti-inflammatory and essential to the human body as we simply cannot produce them on our own.
